For nearly half a century, Eastern Decorator Group has forged crucial links with homes around the world through our home textile products. It has been an ongoing privilege for me to be a colossal part of the group's important efforts.
When Eastern Decorator was founded in 1968, it was bold and rather adventurous to propose that it should be celebrated for its importance. In terms of industrial development, growth and sheer human capital, our group is now one of the most vibrant and robust home textile endevours on the globe representing a market of millions consumers. Our emergence kicked off with door-to-door approach, retailing concept, specialization that brings about higher output and better quality with no price sensitivity, OEM manufacturing to abroad trading; is one of our country's greatest catalysts and has attained an economic prominence in the home textile industry.
To see how strong the winds of change are blowing in Eastern Decorator Group today, wee need to look no further than our burgeoning export trade, historically the division most resistant to reform. The potential for our group to become a new comprehensive centre for home textile products is becoming more real.
Our growing strength has unsettled many of the conventional trading modes and is expected, within my children's lifetimes - to become a protectionist sees as a business threat rather than a business partner.
Who could ever have imagined that Beijing would play host to the Olympic in 2008, an event that symbolizes the ultimate in human achievement and power of the human spirit? And mightily I foresee our group as symbol of the human achievement and power of human spirit in home textile industry, both locally and internationally.
So, let us continue to educate ourselves and our future generations about the spirit of Eastern Decorator Group. Traditionally, our management was derived from a mandate sounded - a right to manage that endured as long as we were in harmonious equilibrium. Today, the mandate has been replaced by the equilibrium created and through successful global partnerships - private and public - that will sustain a thriving economy. Just as I am convinced that our best days are yet to come, obviously, Eastern Decorator Group's best days remain ahead.
